The Dorm DC Director Robert Johnson, MC, MCAP, LPC was featured in INSIDER magazine explaining tips for how parents can support a kid who is exploring their gender identity.
He emphasized the importance of clarifying and affirming their child’s pronouns, explaining that parents should ask, “‘How would you like me to refer to you?’ or ‘What pronouns would you like me to use?”
He also notes parents should “keep in mind it’s important to check with your kid before using these pronouns around extended family, friends, and other people in your life.”
