Dear Community,
2024 signifies a profound milestone for our team at The Dorm: 15 years since we first opened our doors and 15 years of fulfilling our mission to support and champion young adults launching lives of independence.
Over two decades ago, The Dorm was just an idea, as I sought to build the treatment experience that I wished had existed for me when I navigated my own mental health recovery journey.
I envisioned a space that transformed how treatment looked and felt; where everyone knew each other’s names and peers lingered between groups to connect and build friendships.
The name ‘The Dorm’ was chosen because it symbolizes more than bricks and mortar but a moment in time when community and the practice of growing independence coexist.
Now, as we mark this anniversary, I am so grateful to share the leadership with our President, Delaram Saidi and Partner & Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Amanda Fialk, LCSW. Together we are proud of what The Dorm has become: a family-owned and operated program with an inspiring, talented team committed to serving hundreds of young adults and family members across New York City and Washington, D.C.
Today, 87% of our alumni are in school or gainfully employed, living their dreams and thriving. Our gold standard outcomes research not only validates the impact of our evidenced-based treatment model, but is a reflection of these stories of resilience and incredible hope.
Here’s to another 15 years of community, care and making an impact.
