Julie Pavell

Julie Pavell is a compassionate and collaborative social worker dedicated to supporting young adults as they navigate mental health challenges, life transitions, and the complexities of early adulthood. With a warm, relational approach, Julie creates a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their inner experiences, build self-awareness, and cultivate confidence in their identities and goals.

Julie earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Her passion for working with young adults began during her undergraduate years, where she facilitated peer-led support groups focused on mental health and social issues. Since then, her clinical experience has included crisis prevention with families in Bergen County, NJ; individual counseling with elementary school students in Brooklyn; and group therapy with older adults. Most recently, Julie has provided both individual and group therapy to young adults, supporting them in increasing emotional insight, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and reconnecting with their values.

Julie integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and psychodynamic frameworks. She believes that meaningful change stems from a trusting therapeutic relationship and that every person has the capacity to build a life aligned with their authentic self. Her work is grounded in holistic, strengths-based, and culturally attuned care.

Outside of work, Julie enjoys trying new workout classes, exploring NYC’s food scene (and ranking her finds on Beli), cheering on Michigan football and the Knicks, and reading.
