Anna Bergson

Anna Bergson is committed to empathetic, evidence-based care for young adults across a wide range of diagnoses. In her work with clients, she uses a multifaceted approach to therapy and is passionate about the use of third-wave cognitive and behavioral therapy techniques, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness practices. She also applies a trauma-informed and person-first approach with every client.

One of Anna’s speciality areas of expertise is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She introduced and now leads The Dorm’s OCD and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) groups, conducts clinical in-services, and champions consistent, evidence-based approaches to OCD treatment across the clinical team. Anna is also trained in Inference-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), a modality developed exclusively for treating OCD.

Before joining the Dorm, Anna earned an MSW from Columbia University and completed two years of practicum internships in New York City. She spent many years in community behavioral health supporting a wide range of individuals including adults with lifetimes of trauma and symptoms without diagnosis, young people experiencing first episodes of psychosis, families navigating dual diagnoses, and everyone in between.

In her role as Lead Senior Therapist at The Dorm, she not only supports young adult clients and families with therapy and coaching but enjoys mentoring and providing clinical support to interns growing their careers at The Dorm.

In her free time, you’ll find Anna enjoying D.C. public libraries, strolling around Rock Creek Park, attending live shows, and searching for the best sandwich in the city.
