Forbes Speaks with Dorm Founder John McGeehan on How Remote Work Affects Mental Health

“Virtual, in-person, or a combination of both – what we know is that the scope of what’s possible for mental health care is broader than we ever thought possible. And that offers us all so much hope.”

As shutdowns and shelter-in-place orders swept the country, The Dorm was forced to move all groups and sessions online. Dorm Founder John McGeehan spoke with Forbes about the challenges and silver linings that The Dorm faced transitioning from in-person to virtual, and then to a hybrid virtual/in-person model of care.

“In March, we moved over 900 weekly individual and group therapy sessions online, and our clients adjusted incredibly well. We assumed this was due to our population (most of whom are between the ages of 18 and 30). But when we spoke to our therapeutic counterparts who treat individuals of all ages, we quickly realized that we weren’t alone.
