New Data on Suicide Rates: The Wall Street Journal features Dorm Partner & Chief Clinical Officer Amanda Fialk, PhD, LCSW, LICSW

Featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Dorm Partner & Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Amanda Fialk, LCSW, LICSW, commented on new data showing a rise in suicide rates after a two year decline.

Suicide rates have long been tied to a lack of impactful interventions and adequate treatment in the U.S., she said, adding, “People are in pain and their symptoms are getting worse and worse.”

The article outlines new data from the National Center for Health Statistics, which revealed the alarming statistic that more men committed suicide in 2021 than any year since record-keeping began in the early 20th century. Additionally, about half of all suicides involved a gun.
