Talia Missan

Therapist Talia Missan, LMSW is passionate about helping young adults discover self-esteem, positive body image and personal empowerment through individual therapy, group therapy and clinical coaching. She believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to mental health, and follows a holistic and collaborative approach with every client, encouraging each to play a leading role in determining the modalities and structures that will work best for their needs. She holds a Master of Social Work from Columbia University, with a focus on mental health & trauma, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and government from Bowdoin College.

Talia has completed rigorous training in Motivational InterviewingCognitive Behavioral TherapyDialectical Behavior Therapy and psychodynamic and somatic approaches. She holds certifications through Columbia Psychiatry and New York State Psychiatric Institute on Eating Disorders Education, Addiction and Substance Use and Suicide Prevention. Her prior experience includes working with young adults in the Bronx, NYC and on the research team at the Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab at UCSF in California, where she focused on intersections of mind and body, intimate partner relationships and the psychophysiological effects of discrimination.

Talia’s warm nature and her ability to authentically connect with others fosters a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore any challenges they may be facing while working towards personal goals and growth.

On a personal note, Talia is from the San Francisco Bay Area. As a former collegiate soccer player, she loves to stay active whether it be lifting weights, doing yoga, or spending time in nature. She enjoys reading, crossword puzzles and word games, and trying new restaurants around New York City.
