Renae Mittelmeier

Renae Mittelmeier earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she focused her studies on child and adolescent counseling, psychopathology, multicultural competencies, group counseling, career counseling, addictions counseling, ethical considerations, and a multitude of theoretical orientations. She is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor for the District of Columbia, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor.

Renae gained extensive experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness during her time as a counseling intern on the psychiatric unit of St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. She went on to become a therapist for a Residential Treatment Facility for Adults there, where she gained experience as an individual and group therapist.

Within individual and group counseling, Renae utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing in her practice with clients. She is adaptive when working with clients and explores the best possible approach and modality for each individual, as everyone has their individualistic desires and needs. Renae believes that every client deserves the utmost respect, support, and equality, and displays this with her non-judgmental approach.

When Renae is not helping others she enjoys dancing and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance.
