Eli Cunniffe

Eli is an empathic, dedicated, and passionate social worker committed to helping young adults navigate their mental health struggles, interpersonal relationships, identity formation, and recovery. Eli’s practice focuses on meeting clients where they are at, unconditional positive regard, and fostering a trusting therapeutic alliance. He received his Master’s in Social Work from New York University where he was a part of a substance use specialization track. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Binghamton University. 

Eli draws from several modalities with clients, including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and a relational approach. He began his social work journey working at an outpatient substance use clinic where he honed his ability to provide thoughtful, person-centered support to individuals, groups, and their families. Eli also has experience as a youth mentor; where he was a support for young adults and adolescents facing difficult transition periods in their lives. He also has experience working at dWELL Recovery, a gender affirming mental health recovery house; where he offered community support, laughter, and daily living support.

In his free time Eli enjoys going on hikes, camping, playing guitar, sports, and trying out new restaurants in the city. He also loves to play chess and the New York Times daily word games!
