Carolyn Kanter

Carolyn believes that healing not only happens in therapy but that healing happens in the community. With expertise in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and various behavior management techniques, she strives to create opportunities for clients to engage in community and to provide a milieu that is safe for clients to explore their social and emotional selves. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ithaca College, an MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work, and is certified by the NYU School of Social Work as a Field Instructor. She also participated in the Emerging Leader Development Program through the Columbia School of Business.

From a young age, she knew she wanted to be a Social Worker. It was “in her DNA,” as her mother was a Social Worker and she saw how fulfilling it was for her. Carolyn has always had a deep conviction that people can overcome the greatest obstacles if they have a holistic support system.

Carolyn’s passion is leading teams to strive for excellence. She regards leadership as a privilege and a responsibility, one that requires the leader to listen and to provide vision. In her previous role as Clinical Director at Graham Windham, Carolyn was instrumental in creating an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meeting process that successfully led to improved outcomes by bringing all the stakeholders in a client’s life to the table.

On a personal note, Carolyn enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and her cat. She also enjoys singing.
