Brianna McDermott specializes in creative arts therapy and holds a Master’s Degree in Drama Therapy from New York University. She believes in the power of theater and the arts to guide the exploration of the self and achieve a holistic sense of growth, healing, and well-being.
With extensive training in theater and drama therapy, and with a personal background in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness practices, Brianna aims to provide a balanced therapeutic process for clients that taps into both logic and creativity. She is passionate about creating a warm, supported space for her clients by approaching therapy from a person-centered, strengths-based perspective.
Brianna has experience working with a variety of populations, from folks with severe and persistent mental illness in intensive outpatient services, to adolescents in a school-based mental health program, to individuals with developmental disabilities in arts-based counseling. Through her work, Brianna hopes to de-stigmatize mental health and lean into play, laughter, and fun as crucial pieces of the healing process.
In her personal time, Brianna enjoys cuddling with her dog, exploring new coffee shops in the city, and finding new ways to rearrange her apartment (again).
